Welcome to the 6th stop of A Bookish Christmas Blog Hop! I hope that, like me, you've been having fun reading the previous posts.
Without further ado, let's answer the question.
It would have to undoubtedly be Aslan from the Narnia Chronicles. Could you imagine that? A talking lion on the roof. I guess, it’s not any more unbelievable than a reindeer.
A dragon! Preferably Shardas from Dragon Slippers by Jessica Day George or Gnaw from Dragon’s Curse by H.L. Burke - then I could chat with him and not worry about being eaten!
My mind automatically went to pretty much every character from Narnia as the answer to this question. So many wonderful creatures to choose from. Aslan would, of course, be amazing, but I’d love to find Tumnus or Reepicheep too.
There’s a few characters that come to mind when I think of creatures I’d like to meet on a roof instead of Rudolph, but the one I think I’d like the most is Gadzooks from The Fire Within by Chris D’Lacey, a dragon, or Pegasus from Greek mythology. I mean, who wouldn’t want to fly through the night sky, even if it’s especially cold out?
Well, this could be construed as a shameless plug, but one particular dragon I would love to meet would have to be one I made up in my short story “Arthur and The Egg”, currently available in the anthology Dreamtime Dragons--he’s big, innocent, and pretty much named himself Truck. I want to meet Truck!
But if it can’t be Truck the Dragon, then I wouldn’t mind envisioning a gryphon at the head of a bunch of reindeer--like, gryphons actually have wings, which is more than can be said for the deer!
Yay, my turn now. I like dragons too, especially Falkor from The Neverending Story. I 'd love to relive the magic of my childhood, you see.
However, let's pretend I've grown up. Who would my grown-up self love to meet on the roof? A unicorn, because they're pure, majestic and magical creatures. And Christmas is a magical time of the year, right?
To be honest, though, I should stick to Falkor, as according to researchers like Dr. Elizabeth Mitchell, unicorns blessed our planet with their presence before becoming extinct like the dodo bird.
And you, what fictional creature would you like to meet on the roof instead of Rudolph? Please leave your answer in the comments below and after you've done it, read the other posts of the Christmas Bookish Blog Hop if you haven't done it yet!
